I buy blink and all and I try to move to the edges to blink behind some filthy Zeus/Agni/Chang'e etc and after Ive pushed them towards our team I get massively CCed and instantly die even with decent bruiser builds. Always good to fearless a loki when he ults your teammate.

It mostly just sounds like your team is either bad and isn't following up on your initiates in which case you should instead wait for a fight to start and then blink to the back line while everyone is fighting; or you are just initiating at a bad time and need to learn to understand the flow of the match better to understand when it is a good time to initiate, something that will just come from more practice.
